Patch beach is the closest beach(approximately 2 miles by road) from the town of Cardigan (Aberteifi) and can be reached along the Ceredigion/Wales Coast Path from Cardigan town or from nearby Gwbert. It is dog friendly all year round. One part of the beach is set along the estuary of the River Teifi whilst the other part is on the other side of a bank of dunes with view is towards the sea.
Due to the strong tides and winds in the area, Patch beach is not suitable for swimming. However, with the Teifi Boat Club located here on the estuary it is a popular spot for sailing activities including racing, cruising and power boating.
Between Patch and Gwbert there are three quiet coves. Morgan’s beach consists of a patch of sand surrounded by dark shale cliffs with access via steps carved into the rocks. Cowley beach is a rocky inlet which can also be accessed via steps. Evelyn’s beach is a pebble beach and is the closest cove to Gwbert village and the Cliff Hotel.

Poppit Sands
Accessed along a boardwalk through dunes, Poppit Sands beach is a flat and wide beach stretching around the dunes and up into the Teifi estuary.
Poppit sands are popular for watersports and paragliding. The tide comes in and out quite quickly and swimming is not advised beyond the area identified for swimming by RNLI Lifeguards flags.
There is a RNLI Lifeboat station and the beach is patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards in summer.
