WOW - Wales One World Film Festival

For 25 years, WOW has brought the very best of international cinema to screens across Wales - sharing bold, beautiful, and thought-provoking films that connect people and places around the world.

WOW takes place in March and Ecosinema is held in October.


The WOW Wales One World film festival is the longest-running film festival in Wales. Every March, WOW presents a rich programme of feature films, documentaries, and shorts—many as Welsh or UK premieres—sharing bold, beautiful, and thought-provoking films that connect people and places around the world.

'Made in Wales shorts'

The festival includes a ‘Made in Wales’ Shorts programme, a WOW-curated selection of short films made in Wales and/or by Welsh filmmakers, showcasing contemporary Welsh perspectives and voices, distinctive craft, and a range of styles and genres. Expect surprises, emotional punch, and a vivid snapshot of Welsh screen storytelling right now.in a dedicated programme.

Abercon

Abercon is Aberystwyth’s annual community anime convention. It celebrates the power of animation to bring people together. With stalls, games, animation workshops, and a cosplay competition, this is a fun, family friendly event for everybody.

Ecosinema

Ecosinema is a standalone strand of the WOW Film Festival, held in Aberystwyth over two days in October.

Bringing together international film screenings with local voices through collaborations with grassroots partners.  Ecosinema explores how we live with and care for the planet and celebrates the power of film to spark dialogue, inspire action and imagine more sustainable futures.
